Christina Klein Biography

Christina Klein is a painter and sculptor from Fairview, Kansas. Researching and documenting the changes in rural communities is the focus of Christina's current body of work, which begins with the process of playing with recycled materials. Canvases are sewn together using scraps of fabric, mixing textures to create shadows from the seams that stretch across the surface. She also used recycled wood collected from barns and trees from her family's farm to make her canvases. Each material tells a unique story that encapsulates the narrative of change.

Christina studied painting at Kansas State University where she received her Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree. She then continued her studios in studio art at Florida State University, where she earned her Masters of Fine Arts Degree. Recently, Christina was awarded a Fulbright Fellowship and completed her creative research at the Academy of Fine Arts Nuremberg. Christina is currently an instructor at the University of California Berkley.
