Allan Chow Biography
Allan Chow is a Malaysian-born landscape painter who resides in Kansas City. Chow graduated from the Kansas City Art Institute in 2000 with a degree in Painting and Illustration, later working as an illustrator for the Kansas City Star. In fact, many of his paintings have been reproduced for cover stories in the Star.
Allan's work is in several corporate and civic collections such as H&R Block, the Kauffman Foundation, the Overland Park Convention Center, BKD LLP, and Fishnet Security. Saint Luke’s Hospital and the University of Kansas Hospital have also collected several of his works. He has created mural-sized works for
Arrowhead Stadium, Kauffman Stadium and the Seigfreid Bingham law firm.
Allan’s work has been placed with some 200 private collectors across the country, as well as in Hong Kong. He has executed many commissions—both landscape and figure—for a wide variety of private collectors.
Allan paints with a palette knife, applying thick impasto in brilliant color. Some works are interpretive, others more abstracted, but most are inspired by the landscape of the Kansas/Missouri region, Malaysia, and California. His passions pour through his spontaneous yet controlled brushstrokes. Chow has established a national following with his sophisticated style. Given his awards and commissions, Leopold is confident that this artist's future is quite promising.
Allan also participates in international competitions, and has attained merits from the Society of Illustrators of Los Angeles, New York and the Society of Korea Illusart.
